In addition to her own writing, Booraem volunteers as a writing coach for students in her local middle school and is a founding organizer for Word, the annual literary arts festival in Blue Hill, Maine. Her fourth book, River Magic, a fantasy about a girl who has to save her family, is coming out April 27, 2021, from Penguin/Dial Books for Young Readers. Participants are welcome to ask questions during the Q&A portion of the event, but can also send questions ahead of time to Teen Services Librarian Kendall Chapman at Booraem spent nineteen years as a small-town journalist before quitting her day job to write three award-winning fantasies for readers ages ten and older ( The Unnameables, Small Persons with Wings, and Texting the Underworld). Join the two authors as they talk about their new books, their individual writing processes and answer questions from participants. The library will host Maine middle grade authors Ellen Booraem and Deva Fagan for an online discussion of their new books River Magic and Nightingale on Thursday, April 29th at 6:30 PM.
